Ishmael has a shovel.
Isaac has a spade.
Can't share the land of Canaan.
Rather share a grave.
Brothers of the Book.
Seeds of Abraham.
Rather share a grave
than share the Promised Land.
A simplistic view of a complicated conflict. Written for Marian's prompt at Real Toads.

No one says it better, MZ, and this is perfect! Thank you!!
It doesn't get more spot-on than this.
Brilliant, MZ.
"Rather share a grave." I think your poem should be put on the Wailing Wall. Could not be said any better.
Did you ever think of starting this with "Call me Ishmael"? No?
This, MZ, is a new nursery rhyme.
We may cry ourselves to sleep.
Such truth in a capsule...it does have the ring of a broken world's nursery rhyme
exactly.
Perfectly clever…
Perfect.
Heartbreaking.
And another of your perfect short poems. What a skill!
Luv, K
The first four lines are brilliant. Speaks a lot of the raging levels of hatred and intolerance around us. Sadly, peace doesn't break out as readily as war.
Hate has very deep roots--pretty awful. Thanks. k.
