Keep the tea set your mother gave us.
I'm not lady enough
to use it.
Keep those statues from the thrift store -
those terra cotta muses
of our division
ugly as the past.
I'm taking the panda
I won at the state fair
when you just handed me the money
and I filled the air
with balls that broke the bottles
made in China -
not made to last.

"those terra cotta muses

. . . for a couple, for a partner in international trade, for better that became worse--WOW.
"made in china not made to last!! " is used as a joke quite often in my place !! haha!!

I love the way you wove the elements featured at the challenge together, Mama Zen! So separate and yet they fit like nesting dolls into this poem you've created. It's always such a pleasure to read you...thank you for joining!
Mama Zen--I loved the way you used white space (or rather black space, when it comes to your blog).
You can do it shorter and better than anybody.
You always did have the good arm. I love the way you worked all the images in to a fully original break-up (and split the shit up) poem.
Some things are definitely not made to last. This is such an ideal mash-up!
"...not made to last." What a perfect summing up of a super write. xo
I wear sox made in china that don't last one washing, and I have hankies made in china half a century ago that are still gorgeously intricate and beautiful. Thereby hangs a tale.
Slam dunk~ This says it all!
i'm reading, break-up, separation, and some one's not to happy about the past
Happens! nicely presented
much love...
I adore this … and only hope that this is a poem not taken from your personal experience. The tone, the imagery is so raw. Well done.
Oh wow - a ka-pow poem that knocks it right out of the park. Loved it....."not made to last."
Fascinating!
"Thems fighting words" comes to mind.
Not made to last. Sums it up.
