Let's hold hands and pretend
our hands still fit and then
walk down to the beach
and into the water.
Holding hands again,
we can forget
that we can't swim
and kiss the current
as it comes
to pull us under.

There is such a fatalistic vein in much of your poetry. You seem like more of a fighter, to me.
Yikes, this does not sound good. I feel the sadness in "as if our hands still fit."
If only Virginia Woolf had had a friend to go down to the river with her... perhaps they'd have floated together. A sad and thought-provoking poem, MZ.
I understand, I think. I once had a lover whose hand I outgrew, and on our last evening together, I felt that same way. Love, Mosk
