run out of books,
I would have not
come out.

There is something about this picture that makes me squirm--but not the poem. That's just really good.

Yes! I understand, and Bravo!

I cracked up at your poem! I felt the exact sentiment just just today as I trudged to the library. But I still am not laughing at the picture.

That is one of the most clever things I've read in some time. It's quite easy to hide behind books (and words ... or covers). This could mean quite a few things, actually. I might never leave the house if I didn't need to go to the library and the grocery store. Or I might never come out of my "shell" if I had other more interesting things with which to occupy my time. There are all sorts of meanings for "come out."

I will never run out of books. I only hope I live long enough to read all the ones I want to read!

A delivery made in a brown paper package to hide the recipient's embarrassment?

You know, that sounds a lot like me. I wouldn't talk to anyone when I was younger, just read my books.

Quite spooky combined with the photo!

Second poem I've read to this image, haunting as it is. The "never run out of books," yes, I see that. "Come out" is so loaded with different interpretations... but I'm thinkin' it's the library... with some clothes on!! Sparse, effective poem, lovely. Peace, Amy
