A pair of loose lips
may sink a ship,
but, oh, what happy sailors!
Before you navigate the boat,
you gotta navigate my trailer.
Don't bother dropping anchor;
I'm just a port you're passing through.
And, if you wake my Ma,
you'll get a good, stern talking to.
I'm always at the rail
when a ship comes sailing in.
A link to shore and what's in store
for our fine seafaring men.
I've never felt the pitch and roll
of a deck on a stormy sea.
But, I'm salty to my marrow
so the seamen come to me.

Salty to the marrow, like that! Reminds me of "Brandy your a fine girl".
he he he...ahem...smiles...some like it salty...really nice...and lyrical...lol
This is salty--the yummy kind. Enjoyed reading it!
:) this good and salty ;)
Wonderful poem, esp the pun at the end!
oh la la....i hear her sing..smiles
LOL... One word... incorrigible.
Some very happy sailors indeed MZ ;
Enjoyed the story here. Am sure there is one or more in each port....
Loose lips, but tongue strongly in cheek, I feel--Amazing how a mug of grog can turn a sailor into a pirate. The eyepatch helps, too-that way you only see half.
This is a fine sea shanty, MZ. It would be perfect with a fiddle and a squeezebox, but you've made it musical enough with just the words. Excellent job, as always!
This made me smile from the first lines... great music in this one!
You always do the unexpected and do it so well that I feel nothing but envy. Great write. You created a perfect blend of salty humor and jest.
Aah.. the salty li'l thing! Irresistible as ever! :)
What a superb write (and ride), this one!! Totally enjoyed!
Brilliant presentation of the wordle words. I love it!
Salty seamen, huh? Don't forget the Listerine.
A consistent characterization--now I am left to wonder whether "a shanty" is also a structure?
Ya know? What can be better than smiling ear to ear all the way through?
And she sounded irish! I swear i could see her overfilling her white blouse, in a blue skirt full of stains and rips. One hand to a hip, a finger waggin, as the sailors tossed their hats and jumped ship.
Perfect, mz
Ya nailed it!
Rick
Glad I got a break in my day so I didn't miss this one!! I dig those salty seamen!! Perfect indeed!
I love it! It should be a song.
Lucky sailors!
A fun and entertaining read.
He..he...they are the lucky ducks ~
Certainly a swagger in her step! K
Brilliant!!!!! Love this
What a fun read this is!
I love this, MZ. You are so clever.
WTF is in the water? you, brian, me... wow. This is just wonderful! xxxj
awesome lines, such a great tone hear, wonderful sense of wit MZ.
i could almost sing along to this :)
But, I'm salty to my marrow
so the seamen come to me.
Must be something more than just being salty as a provocation to shore.Nice write MZ
Hank
That last line. And this was the type of woman I asked my husband to avoid when he was active duty. Good one. :)
Ha! Very clever! The poem rolls as if on a bit of a sea wave, even if the speaker stays off decks. k.
The pun is just awesome as the rest of the poem.
This is great :) Deliciously naughty!
Loved it! Hehee... :)
Funny and girls can sail over any wave!
What a fun ride through the waves with you! Great rhyming and your ending is well rigged :-)
Ha! LMAO!
I was smiling as soon as I read the first lines!
Really nice... now I want to talk like a sailor.
:-)
LoL I love the devil may care attitude beneath the words. This is awesome.
I like the lilt of this chanty! (That's the way it's spelled, isn't it? With a "c" rather than an "s"?)
