Facing East by Vandy Massey
Constant and close
as the sun to the sky
am I,
my love,
am I.
But where do you hide
from the clutch of the night?
Where,
my love,
do you hide?
I rest in the west
on the cusp of your dreams.
Dream,
my sweet love,
dream.
Then why must I count clock
and look to the east
to see
you return
to me?

I *love* the way you've arranged this! It's an instant favorite, for me. The repetition gives it a classic feel, and a beautiful sound, not to mention the love poem at its heart.
Ah, lovely. k.
Eventually that deep falling in love, it goes, what choice is there, when you're not the one...eventually you just don't care, you're happy when he shows up and happy when he leaves, that's how I survive, I love but I'm not in love, not anymore
This one is another beauty...
The phases of love,
the yearning.. just like I envision the depth of the painting... very nice.
It is a love song.
A lovely love song it is indeed MZ!!
cool feel to this...the lover being there constantly but she not seeing him...
This is so damn perfect! What a melodic little heart-breaker.
excellent flow and feel
Oh this makes me just sigh with pleasure--beautiful write!
You've captured it, MZ!!
Constant as the zen of rising, indeed. Of coming home. There's a great Wendell Berry that says no one can return home who hasn't wandered as far out as they can go. That's enduring love. Knowing there's a circuit to comings and goings.
I enjoy your framing of this mythic question.
This is a beautiful poem..I so enjoyed reading this today.
this is such an amazing form.
this is such an amazing form.
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO beautiful, with a huge pinch of poignancy.
I love the use of east & west & constant search for the lover ~
Beautiful MZ ~ Thanks for linking up to Sunday's Challenge ~ Happy week ahead ~
Love the form and the repetition. Great write.
Exquisite in form and images! <3
I can hear this sung to a banjo or fiddle on some cabin porch in the Appalachians. ABSOLUTELY beautiful!
Some dreams don't end at dawn--and some songs we sing lifelong. A beautiful ballad, MZ.
A great ballad in the old classic style. Loved it.

lovely ~
this is great, especially the last stanza. I also like your title -- another damn poetry blog. I share the sentiment with my own poetry blog :)
Beautifully constructed, it sings quietly from the page and encourages thoughts of love and longing. Easily related to and just a tad bit haunting.
