from an old baptismal font
I picked up at St. Stephen's rummage sale.
I painted it and placed it
in my backyard,
but it's wasted.
Who knew birds could be
as contrary as me
about religion?

I bungied a plastic birdbath to the rack of my bike and pedalled it home, for our honeybees.
Reading this might be the most fun I have all day; love the twists, the kindness within the jabs you take, the freshness of your endeavor; and using a religious receptacle for a bird bath is genius. As to the damn birds, remember they are just snakes with wings.
Too funny. Sometimes what we think will be great falls flat...like our writing at times. The expensive (on sale) copper birdbath is rejected by the birds but they love the terra cotta round dish I placed on a flat surface in the garden. Gotta just try stuff out sometimes. Keep the birdbath for you to admire though! Fun and interesting to read.

awesome poem, who knew indeed? but they are sometimes very picky for whatever reaason. a neighbour of mine once hung a hummingbird feeder that only crows came to - not what she'd had in mind for her backyard ;)
