I guess I'm not really grown,
cause I still dream
of setting the Founders Day picnic on fire -
the bandstand burning,
apple pies charring,
Mason jars of Everclear bubbling, becoming
bottle rockets ready to fly
straight to the socket
of a mascaraed eye
I still wish to hell
I'd blacked
way back then.

Smiling.
I'm there with you, MZ. Can I aim a few of those mason jars westward toward California?
Girls you age had a hard time being bad, at least the "nice" ones. Boys, well, ...? (I had my first whiskey drink on prom night, shot my first pistol at school during the class play (when I was off stage, a few of put real bullets in the gun and did some shooting), ...
You should have been there when I went off to 'college' (I only lasted three semesters that time). Hint: my roommate regularly wooed an older (than us) lady so she would buy beer for us. Bad. blacked.
..
You make me remember dreams.
I'm sure you're grown. Either that, or give me a thimble and call me Peter!
Make me think that a little bit of left over angst is a good thing!
HFFF! (If you email me, I'll tell you what HFFF means) This was incredible. Just when I think you can't pack any more of a whallop with just a few words, you do.
Every freakin' line was brilliant, the line break between the stanzas a fabulous choice as well.
Wow!
Everclear in Mason jars. That's the truth juice of Founder's Day. I link arms with Sioux and go wooo-eee.
Love this. Man, I can relate... yikes.
I don't know what Everclear is but think I figured it out. :)
A whole different dimension to the 'inner child'. (Grin.)
This is marvellously iconoclastic.
Go and get 'em, girl, before they get you.
Very cool!
Oh, I have some of those recurring thoughts. This is a fantastic, biting reflection.
Ha. One can understand, certainly with your vividness! Great enjambment here especially; I love the way last stanza flows. k.
Bravo, Mama Zen! You dazzle like fired rain~
