Can't we just go back to bed
and forget the things you say I said
when I was nearly lost to sleep?
Perhaps, I was just counting sheep.
But, no, I see there's coffee on.
And, lights! We'll be up till dawn
so you can question, curse, and scream
as if I am in charge of dreams.
Please! Let's just go back to bed.
I won't say it again . . . whatever I said.

lol, MZ. stirring trouble while asleep?
Ouch... one can always tell if something bad has been said... too bad when you have forgotten what it is and just insomnia remains..
Mama, I'm with you. Sleep justifies many ills. >KB
Back to sleep and more dreams! Uh-oh...Very smart and sharply drawn. Nice work.
Steve K.
Hmmmm been there, done that -- sure glad it was years and years ago!! There are advantages to being an old broad!!
Love the feeling of confusion and inevitable conflict
This is kind of funny and kind of not, lol. I say go back to bed. What happens in dreams, stays in dreams, right?
Back to bed or back to sleep?
oh heck... yes...sometimes that's the best thing to do.. forget and just start on a fresh page..
amusing read, tho not an amusing feeling at all..too often we wish we could just forget what we said and sleep it off.
sleep talking aye? nice write
Heck, no - battle it out and clear the air, I say. :)
wow...powerful. Sounds like a long and painful night....
Good capture of extreme self-consciousness keeping the semi-conscious from needed sleep. Unfair!
Strong poem, MZ. Sometimes we do wish we hadn't said what we said!
ha. hopefully it was not another name other than theirs...caught in a dream...ha...yes, that would not be a fun convo....
Hmm...would really love to know what you said.
sometimes that's just what is needed
This is marvelous. So well told! :)
"as if I were in charge of dreams"
I like that.
We used to live down the road from an adorable old lady - she was close to 90, widowed for quite a long time. She told me that when she and her husband became engaged, they were "really kissing" (wink wink) and she called him "Jack". She laughed and said, the funny thing was, she had never known any Jack. Ha, she was a hoot. (and they were married for almost 50 years)
Oh, we've all wished to jump back into bed, pull the covers over our head and hit the replay button. Loved it, Mama Zen.
sometimes we just want to forget
and go back to the comfort of bed...
sometimes is beast to forgive and forget
Ahh..you are making me sleepy like hypnosis..generated accommodation...to insomnia...
But I never really sleep but 2 to 5 hours a night anyway..
So thank you friend..the hypnosis of words of concern over sleep sleep desperation..is one tough cookie to break that I did not fully approach..and could be schooled better I suppose....
Styx and stones will break never break day bones, but words ... well, dream words can and will be used against us in a lover's court of law, where there is no such thing as metaphor. Go figure. Loved it ... - Brendan
My Honey and I have a quick thing we say in this kind of circumstance- let's just start again. And we do. Course it could also be- lighten up.
Clever this - so much compacted into such a small space and yet reading it, I could feel overhead lights, the smell of coffee, confusion, and distrust distilled by darkness. Well done again!
Been there - done that. I'm guessing if you said "Moskowitz" in your sleep, all it would rate is a Gesundheit. Great poem.
Oh yes, I know that feeling all too well. Sort of links with my post too.
i often wake myself up talking... probably really lucky i live alone.
this was very cool, MZ!
♥
I'm so glad I don't talk in my sleep; I can get myself into quite enough trouble when I'm awake!
Uh-oh...
love it (the poetry, i mean) - been there, done that & feel the frustration
what a waste of time that could be spent lovin'?
Happy Birthday, Kelli!
♥
Oh come on no one can hold a grudge for whatever what said asleep...insecure much, kick him in the butt
Happy Birthday!
Ha! This is why I love sleeping alone. Cackle. Happy Birthday, Kelli, you word wizard! Hope you were treated like a Queen the whole day!
Came from Fireblossom- Happy Birthday! And many more!
This is so cleverly written, with a beautiful rhythm when read through from start to finish. Loved it!
Happy Birthday MZ
happy birthday!
Happy Birthday. And keep your mouth shut.
