riddles and eyes that bloom with surprise
rebel yells in a liberal throat
naps in the shade of a sunflower
his scent
tangled in my hair
selfishness and sacrifice
woman's flesh on a mother's bones
years poured just to sip an hour
again
alone somewhere
the ache that constellates my nights
for the God I know or a God I don't
weak-(k)need for some higher power
ellipses in . . .
my prayers
For Magaly's prompt at Real Toads.
Note: This is my attempt at a rimas dissolutas. I stole the idea from Rosemary.

the real deal woman. i'm glad to "know" you
"woman's flesh on a mother's bones"....and the years spent aching for an hour alone somewhere. I remember. All too soon they are on their way and there is so much alone time, you want the years all back. Your writing is, as always, powerful and superb.
and so it is with all of us. Well captured.
So many wonderful lines. I love the one Sherry quoted and adore this one, "selfishness and sacrifice". It makes me think of the glorious chaos that is to be human.

Despite the ability to hide away to do one's own thing, one can still be detected.

Oh my, this is so full of truths - and that last bit is brilliant
It's an absolute honor to know you, MZ ❤️ this is gorgeously written❤️
MZ--As usual, perfection in a minimum of words. My favorite line? The "weak-(k)need bit. This is one way you make your few words count in more than one way...
selfishness and sacrifice
woman's flesh on a mother's bones
Amen, sister.
The form is unsurprisingly a-startle in your hands. I love the arresting motion at the end of each stanza. The portrait is divine -- something it would be good I think to enter again over time.
I already commented at Poetic Asides, but let me say here that you rock the form, and also the prompt. And this poem makes me (more than ever) want you for a friend .. or to know already that you are kin.
PS I did write another Tarot poem for you, which conformed to the (previous) prompt: http://passionatecrone.blogspot.com.au/2017/06/star.html
loved this straight from heart lines....great to know such a person!
MZ, your pens always astonish me. always. ~
Worry wort. But you do write a mean poem, girl.
"weak-(k)need" You are so clever. This poem is ... perfect
