Behind
the blue door -
the blue-lipped crone
I'll be
I am becoming.
Behind
the black door
the black-eyed girl
I'm bound
to leave behind.
Behind
the red door
the angry voice
of truth
a dream / a drumming.
Behind
the green door
rest, a self
caress -
want sanctified.

Love how you play with the different colored doors here, like opening into pieces of our souls -- it is also feels a bit like a children's fantasy story, though a dark one at that. That it ends in rest is a lovely moment of peace.
Loved, esp the "behind the Green Door" reference. I'm old enough to know. Beautiful as always.
So poignant, that black-eyed girl you're bound to leave behind. Sigh. Love the different doors.
This is such an interesting concept, MZ. I admire the evolution of your theme in each stanza.
All the different doors of us and different stages of life. Interesting piece you have written.
Changes changes... each one having its own door... maybe we need more green doors
Some doors we run through, others perhaps we don't mean to close... very interesting poem and concept.
Very interesting use of color! Nice.
MZ--My favorite? The red door stanza.
Hmmm, I think you might have inspired me to something. Fascinating poem.
A quaternity of selves, like a cross of being, resolving into a very unusual construction: "a self / caress- / want sanctified" Self-complete yet not smoothed over, leaving the door open to more ...
Green door, the rhymes, this is perfect.
I loved it reading it as is, but I'm so thankful for Mosky's comment (which takes it up a notch or two[-thousand], for me).
Your creativity blows my mind.
Really neatly done, MZ.
Reminds me of Edward de Bono's coloured hats.
(The devil in me wants to know what is behind teh labrador.)
So many doors to open before we find peace.
Loved it second time through as well!
