--- Terry Pratchett
For you, my cannibal love,
I've blinded the jaundiced eye.
I see a hot bath
in the boiling pot;
protection in the knife.
For me, my cannibal love,
you fatten and feed for nights
of hunger
as I ripen
as I ripen
in your hands.

This one comes with bite!
The imagery simmering in the fist stanza made me shake a little.
Nothing like a little self-delusion!
Feed for the nights of hunger....great little twisting of words there. Well done and viva la!
Could love be any blinder? Fine twisted reciprocity!
Whoa, a little spooky for valentine's day. You are the mistress of words!!!!!
Oh, yes!! A bite indeed!! And no one says/writes it better, MZ!!
This is chilling. A really scary image of a one-sided love, even while the person knows they are deluding themselves.
And oh, that bath water is full of bubbles (as it boils)!
Love is more than blind, it's selfdillusional... It's said that frogs will jump out of boiling water but will die if they are placed in cold water that's slowly heated.
This presents an unexpected viewpoint of the rapacious lover.
This wild and untamed heart has boundary lines of an island. Prayers for those who dare drop a pebble into their world-beware!
Well Done
I'm honestly not very worried about this narrator--sharp and funny! k.
Well, we do tend to see what we want to see. Like your take on the prompt.
I love the image of the ripening...rich use of imagery, Mama Zen!
Magnificent writing, Mama Zen!
