is the picnic you insisted I
join you on
spread upon
the shores of Getsome Lake.
The world according to a worm
is churn and turn,
turn and squirm
through my eyes
buried in the berm
between the lake and the interstate.

This is great- the rhyming so perfect - clapping.
There is a serious theme behind the apparent whimsy of viewing the world through the eyes of fly and worm - especially when it comes to the sense of coercion in the whole invitation. The second stanza seems to portray a woman pushed to the ground by the fellow determined to "Getsome". Not sure if my reading is correct but this speaks of a dark place.
Flies and worms..such depth it what might appear at first glance as mere whimsy.
