Because I'm feeling generous,
I'm going to assume
that the school counselor was having a bad day.
I'll give her the benefit of the doubt
that dragging middle-schoolers out
in the blazing August sun sounded fun.
But telling them to scream and throw stress balls at each other?
"It was supposed to be a metaphor," explained my daughter.
Really?
Lady, leave that
to the poets.

Just ran across this in my drafts. It really happened!

Yipes!!! Glad I don't have any kids in school any more and I hope I wouldn't have gotten that bad if I'd have continued teaching longer than I did!!! Have a great weekend!!
Haha! Quite the metaphor for life. I think I need one of those stress balls to think you have 'drafts', as well as writing almost a poem a day... creeps away, tail between legs...
LIKE! Perhaps this was a letter you actually sent?
that's crazy, unless the balls were full of water, 'cause the alternative is just too dumb
unbelievable! they suspend children for saying "bless you" when someone sneezed (not GOD bless you) but they allow activities like that? you should hear the things that my granddaughter says go on in high school! (or maybe you shouldn't ~ you'll have to deal with that too soon.)
hope all is well, Kelli!

This is great. :)
I remember you telling me about this at the time. What a dolt.
my 15 year old is now hating high school. he's figured out that the education process is... well, it's not well suited for curious, iconoclastic, bright kids who want to do more than stupid homework. his teachers are.... paid, I guess... ~
