see signs in the clouds
and hear whispers
from pictures they've taken.
They snip locks of hair
for lockets
to carry in pockets
stuffed full of talismans
and stare longingly at nothing.
Oh, to be
a lunatic, lover, or poet!
To know that a pill, a kiss, a rhyme
can cure all that ails you.
"The lunatic, the lover, and the poet, are of imagination all compact."
William Shakespeare, A Midsummer Night's Dream

I'm smiling away. I love it.
nice....put all of them in a blender and you got a nice drink going...
First - like Brian's idea there - but it is a lovely poem-and you are certainly the last two. k.
Oh, yes! Smiling I am!!
I love what you've done here. It reminds me so much of my uncle who was such a dreamer.
Mama Zen I love what you have done!
Giving us this alluring charmed poem...we are so swept away with all of these notions! Love it~ :D
Your last two lines that reword your chosen quote are awesome as well as the rest..well done, Mama!!
Wonderful wonderful wonderful. And, again, in so few words. I could talk all night and never say what you've said. Or what Shakespeare said.
Sigh.

We poets are lunatics aren't we? Love this to say so much in such few words...
Very cool.
and hear whispers from pictures they've taking
Love how a lock of hair becomes a talisman. Very neat.
Thanks.
Oh, what a marvellous quote! Each element seems to me to be part of an artistic blueprint: a touch of madness, a belief in love and a pen to capture it all. I love your final line - that brought it all full circle.
I like this quote too ~ And that it does ~ Nice one MZ ~
I enjoyed this, and what you spoke is truth. I had looked at that quotation too...you certainly did it justice. I think Shakespeare himself would have enjoyed the result.
My favorite quote from one of my favorite plays--and I like what you do with it! I know you are a poet--do you have the other two dis-eases as well? You have written your own prescription and also the satire it deserves. We must laugh at ourselves! I am laughing now; I applaud and stand up.
Oh, I think all poets are either deeply in love or, deeply in sorrow. LOL
We are each sooooo passionate with our lives and words, it can make us a little crazy. :)
Love THIS!~!
A way cool response to the prompt. I love it.
To be a lunatic in a good way I would say for poets! Otherwise how do we get those that go the extra mile which stimulates creativity? Great write MZ!
Hank
I almost used this one, MZ, but just haven't been able to come up with anything--you did the quote proud.
Thank you for the delightful profile on me! Loved this.
To know that a pill, a kiss, a rhyme
That tidied everything up brilliantly!
Love this:

Pure perfection, Mama Z...I think the Bard would be proud!
