The light loves you so
that the sun hangs on in the sky
and refuses rest,
the moon waits
widow white and worthless
without the night,
and once proud time stands still.
I borrow my next breath
from your hands.
The light loves you so
that the sun bares its teeth at shadows,
the moon weeps,
and time sands itself smooth.
I drink dreams
and dine on drought.
The light loves you so
that the sun finally burns itself blind,
the moon creeps
wily
from the willows,
and time regains its fragile footing.
I am as much yours
as I was before.

even my bones danced in your words. loved.this.
amazing words MZ. Just some terrific lines in here, I love it. Especially the sun bares its teeth at shadows, borrow my next breath from your hands and sun burns itself blind, and a perfect ending. Thanks
I drink dreams
and dine on drought....
Love this, a beautiful write.
Some just amazing lines in this--'time sands itself smooth," and the alliteration of white, wily willows worthless widow, all with the moon underlines the nocturnal, the sense of wandering in the dark, looking for the light. Excellent piece, MZ.
Wow. Just wow.
I truly must quote FIreblossom. "Wow. Just wow." widow white and burns itself blind, the sun refusing rest...
How do you do it? Mama Zen, please publish yourself.
Wonderful words ... they make me hold my breath hoping that the lights loves me too. So bright, so spectacular. There are indeed some here whose words I have sorely missed ... and yours are some of those.
beautiful, simple and such intricate imagery
beautiful, simple and such intricate imagery
Your amazing imagery and characterizations of light truly elevated this piece. It's not sentimental but very moving and classic. Very nice work.
So much beautiful imagery and classic it is indeed!
Love this:
"the moon waits
widow white and worthless
without the night"
And "as much yours as I was before" ... Wow, just wow. (to quote Shay)
too many stunning lines to quote! exquisite!
♥
A refreshing spin on sweet romance - the re-visiting kind! It reaches beyond first love and touches on the exquisite of eternity!
Not one unlovely word here...This is an original...a stunner!
A stunner...original all the way thru
This is spectacularly beautiful. I was especially struck by "the moon weeps and time sands itself smooth"....and "I drink dreams and dine on drought." Your closing lines are stellar.
The sun bares its teeth at shadows. and eats them up. I found this beautiful and HOT.
Stellar, love poetry at its best, it went for the jugular and succeeded!
Awesomely romantic.
I borrow my next breath from your hands.
Yep... that's wonderful.
Romantic.
Love.
time sands itself smooth is a great metaphor (could this be a soap opera -> get it??)
