The double meaning in the final lines is so well played.
Masters of our own minds ... especially when we lie to ourselves for the sake of "mental health" and self worth.

The use of "came" here is immense, because it captures both moment and history. The former reading is stronger than the latter--also probably more true--but the latter has more gravity. Anyway, yay.
