The fine art of swearing
now faces extinction
due to abuse.
I learned my craft under
Dr. James Waffletwat.
Now, I am an artist
painting in blue.
From Wikipedia:
The usually accepted first known occurrence [of the word fuck] is in code in a poem in a mixture of Latin and English composed some time before 1500. The poem, which satirizes the Carmelite friars of Cambridge, England, takes its title, "Flen flyss," from the first words of its opening line "Flen, flyss, and freris" ("fleas, flies, and friars").
A double dactyl for Aprille's prompt at Real Toads.

Swearing as fine art is threatened with extinction.. I agree wholeheartedly and applaud this savvy poem.
OMG this made me GOL (guffaw out loud) and SOK (spit on keyboard)
yay!
Wonderful! I'm in agreement with your prognosis about profanity.
While I never knew Dr. Waffletwat, I dated his daughter.
Lovely fun.
You make etymology quite edible, MZ. I always find the F's to come trippingly off the tongue, and I'm loving the fleas and friars--like god, if profanity didn't exist, we'd have to invent it. O wait...
Dr. Waffletwat! My swearing has become insane... "uckin' fugly," "douche canoe," "oh, my sweet-and-sour cranberries!" and of course, the ever-loving "J.C., Mary, and Joe, on a camel, in the desert, eating a bagel with a schmear!"
Put nothing can take the place of "criminently," my mother's old expression. That's gone out of style, too...
What a perfect subject - you really earned baby's new pair of shoes, Mama! Amy
Oh, you have made my day, MZ!!
This is so clever and funny!
Hahahha - I've had a few lessons from the accomplished professor too! What fun!
How sad if the fine art of swearing becomes extinct!
Nice!!! Mama Zen!! Love that...painting in blue!
I so agree. Love your creativity!
.. a rollickin' rompin' fine bit of a poem!!
All you have to do now is add some Fast Floating Fractals :-)
Brilliant
Yes, but wasn't Dr. Waffletwat discredited by Prof. Pissuparope?
Good swearing isn't something for hobbyists or nincompoops to be fooling with. Leave it to the professionals, like...MZ!
hehehehe

I most wholeheartedly agree! One must be tutored properly in the fine art of swearing before attempting. Bravo.
A lot of fun, spot on, and well crafted too. What could be better than that. I love "painting in blue"
My father-in-law came to visit and he has been known to paint a pretty picture with such words... but he was on his best behavior this time :)
You outdid yourself, once again. You come up with the most interesting themes!
Ah yes, the air was blue with the words of the men in the pub.
I love flen, flyss, and freris!
My mother was a creative cusser when we were kids (which was when she most needed to cuss) who used words like "horsefeathers" for everyday cussing and "hell's bells and buckets of blood!" for extra-special situations.
With Mom gone, you're probably right, the fine art now faces extinction.

PS
I love what Marian said.

Go blue and I love all the clues...
please do not confuse this with
Blue's Clues ;D
lol
So fun....
YOU are so clever!!!
smiles... Dr. James Waffletwat... you crack me up
Extinction of swearing wouldn't be the worst thing! LOL.
