We went for a ride on his motorcycle.
I didn't know his name,
but dragging Main,
I imagined him just as I wanted.
Smart and strong
with a gentle heart
and a quirky taste
for art
and poetry.
And, girls like me.
Climbing off of his motorcycle,
I didn't catch his name.
But, I've imagined him
in every man I've wanted,
had,
and then found wanting.

I hear you loud and clear ... where is he?
You are really on a roll with your titles lately, girl!
Yep, I hear you, too!!!
Were you ever a nun? Sister carol?
I went to a catholic school as a boy. All the nuns sucked cept sis carol. One day, a guy rode into town on a bike. The good sister threw off her habit, hopped on the back, and st peters parish never saw her again. True story
But i'm guessin it's best you never knew his name. Men are bastards and it don't take long to show.
I loved the mystery of this

I loved the "wanted...wanted...left wanting." Yes, sometimes the ones without names remain with us forever...
The pleasures of youth can open up to so many windows. The beauty of having many experiences will help boost up confidence. Nicely MZ

nice...i need to get me a motorcycle...thats what it is...haha...
Ha! I love the word play in your title. Motorcycle wheels spinning, the expression "spinning wheels" (getting nowhere), stuck in a cycle you can't seem to break. And even now, all these years later, you're still thinking over the same issues while you're cycling through the laundry day after day.
I like that "dragging Main" could also be a drug reference.
I think your primary message is in the stand-alone, one-word line: "had"
You've been had, in multiple senses of the word. But primarily, you feel duped.
I like the possible double meaning in your closing line as well. You are SO good with layering!
Ha! I love that nun story. That's great. :)
Also forgot to mention the layering in "in every man I've wanted." Excellent. You have such a gift.
Ah, the "one-ride stand." I have a one of those guys in permanent residence in my head. I bet most women do. Great poem, MZ.
this sounds like a man after my own heart...smiles
reminds me of my ex-husband ~ a biker wannabee who i imagined to be far different than he really was. but we made a gorgeous daughter together. {smile}
i like this one a lot, MZ!
♥
I love this spin cycle. And you better know his name. Lol. I love this. Thanks for sharing. God bless you.

This is not just wise, witty and wonderfully titled, but instantly recognizable as truth. Everyone we love comes from that core view of the wheel that will cog into our every groove--sadly, seldom realized.
Oh, you touched my heart with this one.
Fantastic job.
aw. yeah, see, it's like when the earth opens up you have to go with it or you will always wonder--at least that was part of the NOT thinking in pre-AIDS, post-birth-control days. 'course there were other dangers that were not physical . . . .
really strong piece. Love the visuals provided here, and then the reflection in the center…such a great ending, and I believe we do this a lot whether we notice or not, compare futures with the past and/or present. Fantastic piece MZ. Thanks
"and then found wanting" - the urge in your poem is prominent... loved it :-)
If he only knew!
Wow-on fire--loved the title and and now my brain or something is on fire too--
You should have asked for his name. Maybe he was your Mr. Right. Glad you had a nice ride.

Lovely! Yes! Oh dear! k.
The stranger who rides his way through town, leaving love where he found it
Love this poem! Great title and great writing.
I have one of these stories relating to a girl I knew for less than 24 hours. Many many years ago...
Just right - neat and complete!
