These are the times to brood. The photo reminds me of many a movie scene where the protagonist is brooding--and usually looking out a window just like that--but with some really appropriate "brooding" music playing on the soundtrack. If you imagine the music, (or actually play some)brooding can feel kid of poignant.
Nice. I really like how the lines correspond. When there's a lull/the question comes and between one thing and the next,/how do I feel? The repeating of unwelcome/unwanted really illustrate mood rather well. Great job. Thanks
Sometimes it is the persistance of a couple of words that becomes a personal agony; a rhythm, a nagging thought that exists because the rhythm and the simplicity are easy to remember. Breaking the repetitive habit in down times can take a great deal of willpower and needs an alternative, simple rhythm. A powerful piece of writing!
Oh this was very thoughtful. It does seem in life that it does all come down to two things. Either you're welcome or you are wanted. Hopefully no one is unwelcome or unwanted for too long....somebody has to let a person in....ah yes, perhaps that is why I surround myself with animals! Ha! Ha! Always wanted with them!
You nailed the emotionlessness of the subject here to the wall! There is such a lack of.. in the picture, and it is a state of being which I'm sure many can relate to.
Yes! A tight and poignant summary of what can creep into those spaces between that which keeps us otherwise emotionally occupied. Doubt, on little cats' feet...
Because I catch on so quickly with my rapier-like mind, it took me a day to realize that "unwelcome/unwanted" is not how she feels. It's the thoughts themselves that are unwelcome and unwanted. Duh. *smax forehead*
aha, i had already read this. please give my regards to Papa Zen and Puppy Zen. They both like to be scratched behind the ear (my current intuition tells me). cheers

Whoever the speaker in your poem is, MZ, my heart goes out to her. That's no way for anyone to have to feel.
Be gone! Unwelcome, negative spirit running loose in my mind ...
I am loved
I am loved
I am loved
I am wanted
I am wanted
I am wanted
MZ--Your piece perfectly matches the photo/painting.
I think the question is necessary, it's the answering that's tough
Rick
well that kinda stinks to have to feel that way...
Ouch! A lot of pain conveyed in very few words.
You really catch something in the photo and in many people's lives. Well done. k.
The refraining lines were chilling ~
Good one MZ ~
Like a sad Koan, ZenMama.

Makes my heart ache, MZ ....
When that question comes, you'd best figure out a way to busy yourself. No one wants to think about how they feel. This is horror poetry. ;)
Some people never get the chance to ask themselves how they feel about anything. Sometimes I think that may be a blessing!
Your poem interprets the photo so well. The lull, the waiting, the wondering...........
I think your words get to the heart of Vittriano's picture, Very true and sad.
As pensive as the painting itself - you're right on target. :)

Hmm...very apt for the pic....its really disturbing...
Definitely takes a special kind of person to 'dig' that kind of work! Its very appropriate to the photo. Unwanted pregnancy?

Take it by the horns and resolve as adults should. It works every time for those in the adult mode! Great thoughts MZ!

The dreaded ‘lull’ leaving time for doubts to creep in. Nicely succint.

It's the waiting...I really feel it. The answer...still blowin' on the wind...excellent!
Short and sweet :)

Melancholia.
Makes me sad....
I feel restless in the lulls...the limbos...
I do think sometimes that when there is a lull a person starts thinking...and it isn't always comfortable thoughts that surface. A fine write.
BANG! That blew me away!
Wow. Great piece. :)
unwanted, unwelcome
how do you feel?
can feel that..
Ah, yes, and many times unbidden.
Beautifully written, Mama Zen!

I am interested in this warp in the space time continuum between unwelcome and unwanted , Zen , there could be auniverse there in that pause , thanks
Zing! How, indeed, would we feel? Thank you.
Well, that asks it all, doesn't it? :)
