I tried, but could not
catch the bird whose song I heard
lilting through the leaves.
Stay and lie with me.
Let me coo, soft, at your breast.
Maybe, she'll return.

Sigh. How beautiful!
That is nothing but beautiful, Kelli. I kept re-reading it. It's perfect.
Lovely MZ~
mmm some nice sensuality in this MZ...cooing at the chest....nice...
How beautiful.
Some things defy words on purpose, so we'll pause in awe of their undefined beauty.
So relaxing. Soft. Gentle.
The birds around my apartment have an awful squawk. There is nothing about it that says "coo" or "stay" and I'd be quite content if they did not return, but were instead replaced with your poem exactly.
perfect! & fills me with longing...
Sounds like a lovely morning...
Your words have a beautiful flow and rhythm to them. And no fat, just fillet. And i loved the gentle wondering at the end. An open door to an ending not yet written.
Rick
I can hear the singing.
I love your tiny poems. :)
This is a beautiful, vulnerable, tender poem ... especially this line: "Let me coo, soft, at your breast."
I like this line break:
"I tried, but could not
catch the bird whose song I heard"
It's almost like there's another layer here in which you're saying, "I couldn't catch the bird ... so you catch the bird for me." My brain thinks your second line is a commanding question.
Perfect.
breathtakingly beautiful!
