five times
in the honeyed stomach of September
and let chaos crown her wild
nest of titian hair.
Pomegranates wept:
truth or dare,
truth or dare?
She smiled -
seeds stuck
in her teeth.

Oh my goodness, I cant tell you how much I love this. I would have to quote the entire thing......the pomegranates weeping and the seeds in her teeth are especially glorious. LOVE the "honeyed stomach of September". This was a feast, kiddo.
Oh how I hate seeds stuck in my teeth!
The honeyed stomach of September... that's a perfect place to be.
I thought that was funny and great... did I miss something?

Maybe I should buy a pomegranate for the first time and eat it while rereading your piece here. who knows? I just might come up with a equally wonderful write. Good day!
I love the honeyed stomach of September...a perfect description of autumn for me!
This is a little jewel of a poem, with a lead-in "honeyed stomach of September" that captured us all, ending with impudent seeds in the teeth. Well done!
I don't even know what to say. It's amazing. That's just about the best opening ever (the first three lines; the whole first stanza).
This poem makes me think of Pippi Longstocking. :)

Dang, that ending is really killer, MZ.
To be crowned by chaos! What a queen... I love this.
MZ--The whole thing is--as usual for you--brilliant.
Now we know she is caught forever – by choice.
It's that smile that gets me. Floss! Floss to the rescue!
The word play in the first stanza is truly enchanting and sets up the smile-to-come - beautifully - in the second stanza. I loved this little gem of a poem.
Aghhh! That third line! I could not think how to use the honey stomach but you have included it in the most brilliant way.
Truth, for sure. Daring to show the whole truth. This sticks with me.
Lovely words, truly brilliant. And the seeds...!
