Don't staunch the bleeding, love.
I'll find you by its slow,
ferrous flow. Break
a bone to give me compass;
I'll navigate
by the storyline of your
suffering. There are no
accidents; just causes,
quick kisses, and confusion
on this merciless plane.
Disowned and rejected,
breaking bones comes
as a comfort. There is no staunching
this bleeding, love,
this slow, ferrous flow.

This is breathtaking, kiddo. Wow. "That slow, ferrous flow...."
What a fantastic title. Love the opening three lines.
Then this: "Break a bone to give me compass"
Then this: "I'll navigate by the storyline of your suffering."
Also this: "There are no accidents; just causes"
Somehow, it seems to make all the difference in the world that she is not anemic. It makes me believe that no matter how badly she is suffering, how much blood she is losing, she is still going to be okay. I think she is stronger than this ripping and reaping.
No apostrophe needed here, though: "I'll find you by it's slow"
There are no
accidents; just causes,
quick kisses, and confusion
on this merciless plane.
This is so true! A beautiful summation if the human condition.
This reminds me of Bella, when James breaks her leg in the dance studio.
I loved the play on words with "just causes."
As usual, you do so much with so few words.
