Someone told you that you're dying
of a disease that you don't have, and now it's killing you -
filling you
up
with tumors calved
from air and sound.
Carousel goes round.
Pick your horse.

I see this, sometimes, people whose thoughts are making them ill. Your closing line reminds me how much I loved the carousel when I was a kid. I didnt ride anything else. My parents got me a string of tickets and then had a rest while I went round and round, beaming.
Yes... maybe you can cure yourself by positive thinking, but far likelier is getting sick by believing in it.
Bjorn said it so well. Keeping ourselves healthy (or at least fighting an illness) with positive thinking is very difficult, but very doable in certain cases (I think). Making ourselves sick, on the other hand, is easy as believing the headache that isn't there.
I shall ride the wild horse, and remind the beast that it can't throw me off... just because my legs are feeling a bit weak today. ;-)
MZ--For some reason, I heard Billy Preston's "Will It Go Round in Circles" when I read this.
I lovelovelove the word "calved" in this piece.
Short, but it hit hard. "Pick your horse."
Such is life, indeed. A well composed metaphor.
Yikes! So sad but true of some -those that deliver as well as those who accept the delivery.
Interesting images in my head reading this.
Thanks.

Your poem points me strongly in the direction of Tolstoy's story, "The Death of Ivan Ilyich."
We are what we believe.. and yes it's important to stay closer to the positive side in life. Beautifully penned, MZ ❤️
A telling description of a common tendency.
Powerfully thought-provoking.
I seek to emulate your talent and skill. Bravo, baby!
