Mummies shrivel
in the branches and wrinkle
like crones, a slough away
from the meat -
beneath the tree
fallen fruit and leaves rot
stench and incense
on the thin skin
of October.

The notion of a month/season having a skin opens my imagination. I hope October has memories to help her deal with the inevitable wrinklng and rotting.
This is October, for sure. Wonderful Writing!
Yes October is thin-skinned... by november it's thickened with scars.
Peeling its skin, to be naked for the winter... What a hearty month, that October. And creepy, too. Love it!
yes - I dig this one! Cool theme indeed.
The thin skin of October is a magnificent line - like a leaf crisp and skeletal
My God this is good ❤️ Especially love "beneath the tree fallen fruit and leaves rot." Beautifully done.
Lots of love,

Ooo as if October is stripping down to her bare bones...or being stripped, opened for when November & the cold, & Winter come. Chilly & beautiful at the same time. Thanks for sharing.
The perfect poem for the beginning of this new season.
October thin skinned indeed, it also a time when the veil is thinnest.
Though thin-skinned, October definitely has a lot of personality!
Yes! 'Tis is October for sure.
Geesh...well written, but,it was a morbid translation of Autumn's colorful transition from summer to winter. Or i might have mis-understood.

This is such a cool, atmospheric piece.
I do like the thought of her being thin skinned.... nicely creepy
Mummies aren't wrapped too tight, or so I have heard.
So many delicious, ominous word choices in this poem, building to a crescendo of 'uh oh, winter is coming'.
Interesting perception!
October seems to be a nature chapel...I don't she does any repenting. :)
