Every early morning,
I watch light cure the dark;
still, I wonder if there is a god.
I have opened my body
to seed and seeking fingers,
have arched into teasing tongues;
still I wonder if there is a god.
I have stretched skin inside myself,
safe guarded a soul into the world.
I bear the mark of connection on my belly still;
still,
I wonder.
I wonder.

I always wonder too... almost sure there is none, it creeps up on me that little question "whatif?"
I love that the light "cures" the dark. I wonder less when I stop using the word God and just think of divine alignment or more going on than what I can see.
This a stirring pensive mood, thanks for sharing. Your images are so well wrought
Much love...
"(L)ight cure the dark"...frankly, I wish I had written that.
As many do – probably all of us, at least sometimes. You have given your wondering excellent, relevant contexts.
The ultimate question.. wonderfully put.
We are surrounded by miracles - our quest for a god-like figure behind them all is testament to the awe that most of us should feel to know we are alive, cognitive and aware of the randomness of our existence.
I'll leave all theological discussion to Cat Angel, but as for this poem, it is perfection.
I especially love the safe guarding of a soul into the world......a most awesome thing.
If there is God, He is not readily seen. However God's presence can be felt. Many wonder over this, yes!

Makes me imagine perhaps the wonder is inside ourselves.
Yes, the wondering - the dreaming - the questioning - never ends. Would that it never will, my poetic friend. Must we choose to live in the light? Or seek the mysteries of the dark? I'm still thinking on it...Thanks for sharing.
