It's the lack of wildness
that's turning me wild
and feral
in this furnished space;
curving my spine,
bending me four-footed,
animal.
Animal -
beautiful
spirit of suburban streets.
Four-footed,
feral,
an animal.
Four-footed -
an animal -
I tear at the civilized skin.
Swift to the scent of the marrow
of this furnished space where blood has been
bending me
four-footed
animal.

Tearing at the "civilized skin." What a cool image.
Girl's gotta get her wilds on, or she goes feral, i hear you
Thanks for your response
much love...
We wild ones do have a problem with confined spaces. I loved this. Ow-woo!!!!!!!
That civilized skin itch so much... A fun write.
A great response to the prompt. I love the idea of a 'spirit of suburban streets' tearing at the 'civilized skin'.
This could also describe the transformation into a werewolf, with all it's attendant mythology. Really nicely vivid imagery.
I read your title as "Forfeited." And when you talk about your spine being bent, I think you're talking about aging, doubling over. Civilization is making you sick. Your body is getting older, and you're pissed that life is as boring and "bloodless" (mentioned at the end) as it is.
"Bending me" at the end means that the world is bending you to its will. You are not a wild animal. You are a forfeited animal ... which is making you feel "wild" (and angry) inside because you're desperate to figure out how to fight against it, to make it stop.
That's what I see, anyway. You repeated "four-footed" (forfeited), "feral" (fear all), and "animal" (an eye-maul) too many times to not be suggesting something other than what you're saying on the top level.
I'm leaving you out at night. ;-)
Makes me want to bay at the moon.

I knew you had a tendency for lycanthropy!
