this is my heart
on my lower back
the man was a train; I lay
on the tracks
and forgot to remember
love goes south and slack
but the tattoo's forever-
that's why I still ❤ Jack.
For Kerry's prompt at Real Toads
Note: I'm going to be really slow to visit. My husband just had surgery, so things are a little crazy at my house.

I ❤ tramp stamps." :) I think they are so sexy!
How perfect, though, since you can repurpose your tat for Jack Daniels or a playing card. :P
Ooh, or a Jack who's looking for his "Jill."
Good luck taking care of your husband. They are big babies when they're sick or recovering. I hope his surgery went well and was minor.
Excellent poem, Love.
Cute poem! All the best re your husband's surgery/
LOL @ the tramp stamp.
Don't we always seek to impose permanence on the transitory when young--I think so, and only later do we realize all the slackening and fleeing of everything is part of the nature of its sweetness. Succinct, sharp, and wistful as well. Best wishes for your husband's healing up.
The man was a train, I lay on the tracks....
That sums up a whole world of hurt.... so why did the poem make me smile?
So clever!
I have to agree with Kerry
a sad story that made me smile?
sending good vibrations your way
Powerful lines, Mama Zen. You so know how to use your words.
I don't think it's meant to be a sad poem, or that you even feel sad about it.
This section is sexual, not painful (although pretty intense, and perhaps a bit rough:
"the man was a train; I lay
on the tracks
and forgot to remember
love goes south and slack"
The point here is that you mistook physical chemistry for love, which is why you were more than happy to ink yourself.
Oh this gave me a laugh..in lessons learned, or mistakes appropriated for our own ways of coping with past crazy loves! I hope your husband is faring well...prayers for good recovery. Thanks for sharing!
"Love goes south and slack" is one of my favorite lines in this piece.
I hope your husband gets well quickly.
Perfect. You could have this tattoed under that, but nah. Better writ on the wind. Hope your husband is repairing well.
Such a charming poem--clever, wistful as Hedge says, and sweet. Hope all goes well with your husband, and not too wearing. k.
So clever, Mom Zee. I liked the remembering, to late???, that love goes south. I learned on the track when I was made to leave.
But it doesn't always work out that way, I'm now going on 44 years.
