Lots of pretty girls end up in ugly places;
me, I'm worse than most.
I've got push pins in my pilgrim's map
for all the dark bends in the road.
It's not accident or error;
just a belling in my bones -
every ghost needs a house to haunt,
and every haunted house needs a ghost.

Do you know how sexy it is that you can do this?!
Oy.
True, that.
"just a belling in my bones" is fantastic. I am seeing a shape, hearing a sound, all at once.
I do love it!!! As always!!! Looking forward to getting back on line!! Have a great new week!!
I especially love "belling in my bones" and "dark bends in the road."
HTF do you do it?
The conclusion is my favourite bit – and all of it's terrific.
I love the push pins in your pilgrim's map and billing in your bones. Very cool.
The belling in my bones... Great, the last two lines are terrific.
Two excellent analogies about life, set side by side flawlessly. Somehow the pilgrims' map leads the way to the haunted house.
I wish I knew the source of this quote: "Our beginnings do not our endings know.." heard it somewhere long ago, and this poem illustrates it, how every step is a push pin of its own regardless of where we have drawn the line of our course, and how we go where/become what we are needed--never underestimate the force of others' needs on our pretty-girl fates...really well done as only you do them MZ.
Just loved it! That last stanza is so cool!
