Not even hawks fly
when the summer storms like this.
Still, I watch you sleep.

That's just beautiful!!!
Pure perfection :D
Beautiful. Powerful. True.
Oh, this is very cool. Enigmatic. So much in so few words. You are a wizard at packing a lot of story into a small space.
Better safe than sorry. Anyway, part of the watching is memorizing, because the storm won't always be there to keep anyone home. The images in your poems move me to dialogue with them. Can't help it, though I know you've said it all and the dialogue is redundant. Sweet.
1) This makes me think of Brian.
2) That's ingenious, what you did with the last line. So many ways to read this, but my favorite is the one where you're the hawk, preparing to swoop down and eat, what's sleeping.
MZ--This sent me into a lazy, summery romance direction, and then I thought, 'She might be talking about watching her child nap.'
I REFUSE to count the number of words in this piece, because I'd have a temper tantrum if I did. To write something that wonderful in such a small number of words... well, it should be illegal. ;)
Your classical 575 haiku is perfect. Line 3 makes for a phrase of profound pondering
I so luv this haiku of weathered in and nurturing
Much love...
it's always safe to remain under wings...
A sleeping storm - watch out when it awakens. You do have a gift of saying much in few words.
You are always so razor sharp. Great poem!
Yes this really is a delight both to read and in its meaning.
What a fantastic change of direction - sharp as a hawk zoning in on its prey
Even the hawks seek safety in a storm!
Even at rest, hawks have that "thing" that comes off of them, part danger, part majesty, part wildness, part magic.
Im amazed at how birds weather severe storms. We had a bad wind storm (kicked up some tornadoes) and I watched a bird hand on to a limb like a rollerc oaster ride.
Excellent haiku, MZ
