I couldn't take another love at first sight,
so I offered up my eyes
to a blind man.
But, he just shook his head.
"Pick your flowers from a spider web;
wake with a widow in your bed
every time."
I couldn't take another lying word,
so I bottled everything I'd heard -
a draught for a deaf man.
But, he read my lips instead.
"The history of a kiss
is scripture, child, that gets
more true with time."

great poem...there is much to a kiss...it can lead you down many paths...
cool, and mysterious
Wow. Sentenced to our history! Perhaps it is true, but bleak, bleak ...
Perfect.
This is stellar.
Wowzers. Sheer brilliance.
I could not nor hear while in the sticky fabric of space and time...
So could not find words... read past your lips to shout an echo of your truth beyond that bottle that holds the stars... stellar indeed if anything needs not be better said...
Bleak but if the praise returns, here a ray that in this world also the brightness we find in surprise.
Beautiful in the strangest way...you do this so well !!! MZen u rock
I really like how you used the quoted lyrics in a whole new piece of writing that is all your own. It reminds me how much meaning we assign to lyrics at specific times of our lives.
A kiss is a kiss! It's the same to the blind the deaf or the living. Nicely MZ!

dang...i really like that last stanza...def more truth in that...
the whole bottling up and trying to give away the eyes and lies is a cool concept as well mz....
I really love that last stanza ~ Fantastic ending to the story MZ ~
Love it MZ...As always your poetic voice takes a few words and tells what many can't manage in a book.
So much deep and unique in this Mama Zen...just like YOU! Love it!
