Pennies penned in mason jars
shine like captured copper stars.
Home brewed dandelion tea
is bitter, but it's free.
Daylight saved
so night can burn
up on the hill,
and not a word needs
spoken.
We all know we're broken.
Let's grab our fiddles and play.

I'm fiddling and drinking tea ;D
I love your poem~
YOU cast an illuminating spell~
I love the way the rhythm bounces the words along each line, and simply adore the meaning of every couplet within the whole. Here are dark and light in a state of equality, and both beautiful in their own way.
The last two lines...hell, that's a great philosophy of life right there.
Brilliant! This topic arose in worship this morning. I think time change is just a language we use, others think it is man's control of nature. I'm not quite ready to watch Rome burn.
gotta love it when you dont even need words....had dandelion wine, but not tea....nice rhythm to this mz....
The way Nero taught us...
Nice write, but I would wait until the tea turned to wine and it would go down just fine. Love me a fiddle player. :)
Perfect! I really like the home brewed dandelion tea, and "Daylight saved so night can burn." Great work! ~andy
Amen to that, MZ. I really love what this poem is saying.
I like the daylight saved so night can burn ~ Love the rhythm here MZ ~
Love "we all know we're broken......let's grab our fiddles and play". May as well. Great write, MZ.
gosh this grabbed me from the first two words, and then it became possibly my favorite of yours with "not a word needs spoken, we all know we're broken." needs spoken. that SLAYS me. won-der-ful, truly!
I hear you, MZ....
I will grab my fiddle!
You amaze me with the way you make these poems seem effortless. Beautifully done.
"The earth keeps some vibration going/There in your heart, and that is you/And if the people find you can fiddle/Why, fiddle you must, for all your life"

If you hit on something that Masters did...well, you've hit on something good.
Excellent message in this. Nice one.
Yes, let's. I'm heading for Ireland for St. Patrick's day to hear some master fiddlers. They've lots to teach...
Now that's beautiful wisdom! Excellent!
I love this!
Captured copper stars.... wishes in a jar?
We make the best with what we've got... Nice poem!
I don't know why, but I love the use of pennies in poetry...they have some weird significance in my mind. what a great write...the last lines are a testament to a lets live mentality that so many have to use just to get by everyday. Loved this.
Just lovely - Nero never said it well! There is a wonderful energy here in the lyricism and sparseness! k.
do like the flow to this
