I don't step on cracks.
Go ahead and laugh.
Point,
call me a fool -
my mother's back
is unbroken.

Great ... in the inimitable style of Mama Zen!!
Laughin at the footnote--and who's to say what's cause and effect in this crazy world?
Wonderful...I can so relate to this logic.
Oh, yes, I do relate!!
Ha! Yeah... I never step on cracks if I can help it.
smiles...we used to try when we was kids..but gave up once we broke it...
And who's to say it's not thanks to you...
Great :)
Your logic is unassailable, MZ! Love the footnote.
March on and may your mom's back remain unbroken!
Ha! There goes going outside of Friday the 13th, walking under ladders, whistling outside (a Chinese no no), leaving your chopsticks in the bowl (a Japanese no no), touch your feet to something (an Indian no no).
Oh my goodness. Well, if you are going to be controlled by superstition, keep it local superstitions and things might not be so bad!
Smiling with fingers crossed
Ha, my granddaughter and I often play the old game "Step on a crack, break your mother's back." Love those old traditions.
Love it! If it's worked so far, why change it, right?
This made me laugh as I remember as a child trying not to step on the cracks..thanks for the smile..
Remember - crack kills! ;-)
Good one, MZ. I got a kick out of your footnote, too.
Love this...can remember this from childhood and worrying about stepping on cracks and wondering "what if" ☺
Thanks for the chuckle you gave my heart and soul.
Peace
Siggi
Haha :D Love this, Mama Zen!
yeah, that one really sticks, doesn't it? i can't think of another rhyme that's so ingrained and relevant! ;)
Clever write. I can remember avoiding cracks in the pavement as a child...
Anna :o]
Neither do I. This poem is true! And the most fun take on cracks for FB I have see! I still pick up pennies, too. It's worked so far.
I was blank till I read the comments and found out abt the saying. So I googled it and thanks to your poem I have cart loads of info now. I love your style. Kinda Quentin Tarantino.
Giggles. p.s. just bought your book.
Good one MZ ~ Have a good weekend ~
I don't know whether I could get the crack :))
Cheers!
