Moonshine hollows the cypress tree
and pools pale on roots
rutting the mossy, muddy hips
of the dark, cradled water.

Beautiful imagery in this!
Those last two lines just *sound* so nice. They are hypnotic.
Oh, I love this one!! Terrific, MZ!!
You just seem to have the innate mindset for these short forms, MZ--you have managed to suggest a deep, welling sensuality with a few roots and a moon. It's good I'm already bald.
nice imagery MZ...i would agree as well on the last two lines...some really nice allusions in your nature...
I love this imagery! It really has a hint of mystery about it.
I agree with Hedgewitch--I'm yanking my hair out over this. The last two lines--heck, all four lines--are rich and sumptuous.
very cool. Love the image of the cypress tree and the pools over the roots, very neat. Thanks
The alliteration and sound play...my poetic ears are happy...great poem Mama Zen!!
What could be more fitting for this prompt than mating season ~~ you rose to the challenge beautifully.
I love the use of 'rutting' ... divine as usual.
Your handling of the elements of tree, moss, water is beautifully evocative.
Just great. k.
I love muddy hips ~
Moonshine ... pools pale on roots rutting...mossy, muddy hips
You are AMAZING! Twenty words of glorious imagery!
Perfect imagery, MZ. Like it a lot.
you are SOOOOO good, MZ!
♥
I love the double meaning in your first word. You make it sound like the tree and water are drunk on moonlight and are making love in the dark. This is absolutely gorgeous.
