Late fall roses with frost etched leaves
barely bloom born; already
they're half gone
to winter, to winter -
I'm feeling my age
and something like rage that cruel
winter comes so soon.

Yep, I'm with you, MZ!!
Barely bloom born~
Just gorgeous, MZ
And oh man, do i share the rage
Though you repeat to winter, heel to toe, the space in between seems so much the greater.
smiles.....we are about to get clobbered by winter with this storm....great opening imagery in this MZ....the forsted leaves...magical...nice allit as well...
Seems the cold is not readily welcomed. Would love to see some snow (no snow in the equatorial regions here) Wonderful verse!

'Rage, rage against the dying of the light.' I love that your poem, like Thomas', can be read on so many levels.
Lovely classical feel to this raging--and I guess I am with you! In the raging I mean
beautiful...just a few potent lines...so rich.
Ah, whenever winter comes, it is ALWAYS too soon!
Lovely form MZ ~ Winter is always coming too soon for me ~
The last two lines are very nicely done.
I'm raging about aging, too!
I enjoyed your poem :D
Winter does seem to come soon in the Northern hemisphere, with cold snaps as early as October.
repeat for the rhyme... you clever girl. This is a beautiful lament!
age and rage, all the rage. sigh.
Another 'rage against the dying of the light' poem - Dylan Thomas would approve...
I haven't decided to rage yet. I like the few layers of wisdom I've acquired by going through many deaths. Slowing down would be ok, but doing it all again? NoNoNo. Beautiful, I lean toward your words in a deep bow.
I am with you!
This is pithy and perfectly pitched -I especially like how you start describing the rose and nature and end up seething about yourself - not unlike me. Much Love 4 U, MamaZen
From my later 60's I would tell your younger self- it's not so bad!
It's true but I am not sure that I am happy that you pointed it out!
A perfect metaphor.
