random stolen photo
Gypsy dressed, the night sky
smoothes her cloudy skirts
and waits for the wind
to lift her hem
and bare her crescent thigh
star-gartered.
But the wind, never shy before,
is silent, still, now
spoken for
to feed the mills
and fill the sails -
bartered
till it's
gone.
Some harvest whirly gig for Real Toads and a little enjambment for dVerse.
Ah, it's good to be back!

bartered til its gone...wow....you get me to feeling for the wind...but then again anything we are willing to barter we got to be willing to lose...
love the imagery of the star gartered thigh...
I love it and such wonderful imagery indeed!
Oh, Kel. This is extraordinary.
Loved the personification and emjambment in your poem. Nice to see you writing again.
I love your description of the wind MZ
Never shy before
What a sad and tragic breakup. This is the best part, to me:
"and bare her crescent thigh
star-gartered.
But the wind, never shy before,
is silent, still, now
spoken for"
I'm a sucker for the night sky--you do her well here, down to her starry garters. I hope the wind is infinite, and passes through the money making machines unscathed to what surely has to be a preferred assignation.
love that gypsy image..dressed night sky...the cloudy skirts..the never shy wind still now...i like the mood..
Star-gartered is so lovely and the whole gypsy sky - just beautiful. Can't think of the wind being overused and run out somehow -= hope not!!!!! But then everything else is.
Hope you are feeling as great as your writing is. k.
I love the gypsy skirt and the bit of thigh~ I love how you wrote this one! :D
you always bring a unique perspective to my prompts, and here is no different. The idea of those greedy wind mills taking the wind from the sky is certainly awesome, but when rubbed up against your gypsy sky, this one is unstoppable. I am poem jealous....thanks for the inspirado and viva la
Bartered till its gone....man will try to make money of of everything until it is depleted...beautiful piece!
This is soooo lovely. The first two stanza made me grin so big.
Interesting imagery and thought provoking about how we harvest yet more of nature with consequence still to fall
I like this - very evocative and you can feel the wind coming and then... going.
Truly poetic
Welcome back!
You made the wind sound sexy. Love the image of the garter on the thigh. :)
I love when the night is gypsy dressed!
Beautiful!

At first I thought we were in for a bit of romanticism, but then the wind dropped and we fell to earth. Well, that's life - as we're making it. We could do with more poems like this, approaching things from an oblique angle.
I specially like the opening lines...very lovely share MZ ~
This is wonderful--beautifully written, with deep awareness.
I love the crescent thigh star-gartered - I could just SEE it.
Love how you've taken the wild untamed wind and turned it into a commodity.
I started laughing at "random stolen photo".
This poem is beyond clever... Read it three times and loved it each time. (I need me a Mama Zen Poetry BOOK!!! (hint)
Yum....I love the atrt of this particularly, super expressive and a wee bit sexy. Glad you're back too.
Welcome back. It's great how you can make a dead calm blow my hair back. :)
Vivid and sensuous.
this brought a goose bumpy sensation to my skin. i could feel the wind and the sky. humble and present. i want to read more of this!
star-gartered. brilliant!
And it's good to have you back, Mama Zen. When I go to the CA desert, we drive through acres of wind farm. There is a strange beauty about them, although often they are standing there, dormant. I loke how you used enjambment.
Oh, sadly...this is how it may be...by the time we realize the wealth in wind...it will be too late. Well worded poetry, Mama Zen!
Glad you are back on the skirts of evening. Hope you are doing well.
