Logic,
tortured until it
yields and kneels, births a delicate
faith far too
tremulous to withstand the cold,
concrete commonsense of knees
that ache.
A Cameo for Real Toads.

I will ask Saint Aleve to intercede on your behalf.
Mama Zen, so good to see you at Toads! I have painful knees too, along with nearly every other body part, hee hee. Love the tortured logic and the tremulous faith. Have you tried its reverse? hee hee.
I really like this form--it seems to distill things down to their essence, especially as you've executed it here. An acute analysis of the constant aching tension between logic and faith.
Oh, don't get me started on knees!! But I do love your words, as always!!Saint Aleve is my best friend!!
Sylvia
maybe if pastors stopped making parishoners kneel...um...you meant in prayer...right...
Common sense and faith often seem to fight it out. I try to manage a peaceful co-existence. Brian, tell me you didn't go there...naughty!
short and powerful. FB's comment cracked me up
I can truly FEEL this poem, so you were very successful with your choice of words. I laughed at Fireblossom's mention of "St Aleve."

This is one of the most amazing things I've read about faith in the modern age, all the more brilliant in that it is written to form.
Thanks for playing along on Sunday Toads.
I really like this one, wrapping and all.
'faith far too tremulous' a perfect description.
My knees have been complaining about Winter before it even got here... thank goodness I'm not Catholic!
"Logic
tortured"
strong beginning to a powerful little poem! {and yes, my knees ache} {smile}
